Sexual abuse effects or homosexuality??

I often read or hear about the after effects of sexual abuse. Its a sensitive issue and with good reaon.
I have known survivors to realise in their adulthood that they are indeed gay or bisexual. After much discussion with my friends, it is hard to know whether these people are experiencing the after effects or not.

I recall doing a study in psychology at university about the number of lesbian women in their adulthood being emotionally or physically abandoned by their mothers are children.

I think it may be a real possibility in rare cases, I dont think homosexuality is a malfunction at all. Nor do I think its a choice.

Just that these days people seem to have too much time to dwell in their own feelings of letdown. Basically self-induced victim hood.

i have had this experience. i suffered abuse as a child (sexual) and have had to work through interesting ideas and experiences with sex as an adult. the first five years of a childs life are the most important with any kind of fundamentalism, so my sex life has needed work. i have often wondered if i was gay, but then after much reading, have discovered it is very normal and common for survivors of sexual abuse to fantasise about things that arent of interest to them, hard to explain i guess. it will be a life long battle for me.
