To date?..or NOT to date?

Is it okay to date? What do we mean when we use the word date?
I guess this is another word that can be defined individually, personally.
When I think of dating, I think of spending time with a person of attraction or interest, doing pleasurable things such as seeing movies, coffee, etc etc. Its more of a way of having the freedom to get to know someone without the committment or pressure.
Is it okay then, to date more than one person at one time? I dont see why not...unless there is a bit of action going on..then it has become a little more than simple dating.
I wouldnt be one for dating more than one person and kissing them all or having regular sex with someone and dating another...ew. Not my thing and its a form of cheating, but thats just my opinion.
Maybe Im just old fashioned, but I like the idea of being able to date as many people as u like, to hang out with them and spend time as friends getting to know eachother better..but as soon as I develop feelings for one or things start to serious up with one, then the rest have got to go. I mean sure, if you think you can still hang out with people that you were once dating (which ultimately means there was or possibly still is an attraction or interest) then fine..but lets not kid ourselves here.
I like to take my time to get to know someone..friends first. For me, gone are the days where I meet someone pissed in a pub, take them home, get a bit of action and then never leave or vice versa..what a thriving way to begin a classy and meaningful relationship!
I think too, that it is extremely important to be honest with those dates, let them know theyre not the only one youre dating, find out how they feel about it and respect their feelings around it. Do you like them enough to give up the other dates, or do you just give him/ her the arse?
What do you think??
